This week I hit my 9 month mark!! That is
so crazy to me! I can hardly believe that I have been out for half of my
mission already! This week has been good but there has been LOTS of
snow and Sister Soliven and I did LOTS of tracting! Its was a lot of fun
though:) Also, Wednesday started the long line of thanksgiving dinners
that we have been having... I think we have had turkey almost every day
this week!! And also lots and lots of pie! We were also blessed to see a
lot of the less active members we visit come to a sort of break through
and ask us to help them come back to church. That was really nice to
see, and to know of their desire to re-gain the testimony the
undoubtedly once had. This morning I was reading in Luke and I came
across a scripture that stood out to me. It said in Luke 12:31-32 "But
rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added
unto you. 32 Fear not little flock; for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom." Well, as I was sitting there reading
that it reminded me of the scripture in Moses 1:39 "For behold, this is
my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life
of man." So often as we go about talking to people they make this idea
of heaven so difficult! But right here the scriptures are telling us
that God WANTS us to make it home! Not only does he want us to make it
home but our making it home and our progression is His work and His
glory! I really like that, one of my favorite things to teach people
(and I may or may not have mentioned this before) is that God IS our
loving Heavenly Father, and because He loves us He has a plan. Because
He loves us He sent His only Begotten Son in the flesh. Because He loves
us He created and entire world for us to dwell on and to be our
learning ground. and finally because He loves us He will provide a way
back home. And once we know who we are and whose we are it is a lot
easier to set our sights on home. To turn our eyes to that kingdom which
He has prepared for us. This is something that I pray I can give
everyone I talk to a little bit better of an understanding on. If I can
do that then the rest comes so much easier. One last scripture and then I
will let ya'll go and be done with my little rant;) in 1Nephi 21:15-16
it says (and this is Christ speaking): "For can a woman forget her
sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her
womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee, O house of
Israel. 16 Behold, I have Graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy
walls are continually before me." I share this because Christ and God
the Father are so very aware of us. I like to think when he says 'thy
walls are continually before me." That he is talking about our trials.
He has paid for our sins, he has suffered for our sorrow so that when we
come up against a wall and we don't know what to do He can be there
with us and He can lead us by the hand and help us to make it back home.
But first we have to grab on to the lifesaver that Heavenly Father and
His Son Jesus Christ have thrown to us. We have to hold on and then
press forward. I love you all! Stay safe!
Love,
Sister Bice
